Thanking God In Advance (11/22/2015)
Jesus rose a man named Lazarus from the dead. Both of Lazarus' sisters, Mary and Martha, were upset Jesus didn't come sooner and heal their brother before he died. Jesus asked them a question, "Didn't I tell you that you would see God's glory if you'd just believe?" Then Jesus looked up and thanked God before raising the man from the dead. Like Pastor Daniel said on Sunday, "Gratitude is thanking God after the fact. Faith is thanking God before the fact."
What does faith mean to you?
How would you describe faith to someone who has never heard or experienced the word?
In what way has faith changed a difficult situation for you?
Has there ever been a time where you were completely in the dark and you had to solely rely on faith to get you through? Explain.
Is all faith blind? Explain.
Why do we have such a hard time realizing Jesus is present?
What would change if we went into every situation realizing Jesus is present?
Do you think there is a difference between faith, belief, and trust? Explain.
In what ways can it be difficult to trust Jesus? Why?
What’s something that could change this week if you completely trusted in Jesus?
Jesus, help us realize our need to thank you before the fact. Amen.
This year, Better Life Church is working alongside Storybook Christmas to collect books for kids. We would love for you to join in this Better Life Project! Please drop off all book donations on Sunday morning at the Next Steps area on November 29th or drop them off at the office no later than November 30th. Though they are collecting for infant through High school ages, there is a high need for boys high school books.
