WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is obedience to Jesus. Jesus said,
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19–20
When you are baptized, you’re saying, “I want to follow Jesus wherever He leads.”
Baptism is going public with your faith. It shows everyone that you belong to Jesus. When we’re baptized, it pictures what has already happened inside of us — we’ve died to sin and been raised to new life
(Romans 6:3–4).
It’s an outward symbol of loyalty and love for Christ
(Ephesians 4:4–5;
Matthew 10:32–33).
Baptism is by immersion. The word “baptize” means to dip or submerge. Being fully dipped under the water and brought back up shows what Jesus did — He died, was buried, and rose again. Baptism tells that same story: “The old me is gone, and my new life with Jesus has begun.”
