Ministry & Mission

Goals for this Week’s Study:

Review Pastor Daniel’s sermon from Sunday morning.

Help group members (especially new members) get to know one another.

Share how God has been growing you through the next steps you have been taking!

Getting Started:

Open your group with prayer.

SHARE:  If you could have dinner with anyone in the world (past, present, or future) who would you pick and what would you talk about?

Scripture:

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” – John 20:21

“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” – John 10:10

“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,” – Ephesians 4:11-12

“ from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” – Ephesians 4:16

Sermon Notes: Take time to let everyone share some of the notes they took or anything that stood out to them from the message. Use this time to get everyone in your group talking (a good tip for this situation would be to go around the room and have everyone share one thing that stuck out to them from Pastor Daniel’s sermon)! Keep in mind, not everyone may feel comfortable talking yet, so try your best to help assist them in any way you can!

Study Questions

What is the “Great Commission”?

Read Matthew 28:18-20. What does the great commission look like in your life?

Pastor Daniel stated that every one of us have a ministry and a mission. What does your ministry look like?  What does your mission look like?

Read Ephesians 4:16. Why is it important to serve the body of Christ?

What was the acronym for HELP that Pastor Daniel shared? (H – Be Hopeful, E – Encourage Them, L – Love Them, P – Pray For Them)

Who can you HELP within your circle of influence this week?

How can your Group help you with this?

Final Thoughts:

Every church is called to “Go”!

There are two types of people, those who know Jesus and those who don’t.

When Jesus calls you, He always calls you to follow Him!

Jesus made time to die for you, you can make time to serve Him!

Jesus’ mission while He was here is now OUR mission while we’re here!

Pray Over Your Group!

Pray over all prayer requests and the next steps that will be taken this week. Get everyone active in prayer! Go around the room and have everyone pray for at least one thing for the person on their left!
