Jesus Feeds 5,000
This Sunday, Pastor Daniel preached about Jesus feeding over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. There are many times in our personal lives when a huge need is faced by a small amount of resources. According to the story in John 6, when Jesus is near, much more is possible than what we might naturally assume.
What stood out to you from Sunday?
Why do you think the crowd followed Jesus?
John 6:5-9 says, "Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, 'Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?' He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do. Philip replied, 'Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!' Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. 'There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?'” (NLT)
What was the difference between Philip and Andrew? Which do you see yourself more like?
In what ways do you gauge the challenges you face in the terms of your personal capability alone?
What are some common excuses we give Jesus when we are challenged?
What could add up in our lives if we understood the whole equation, not just part of it?
How can personal capability change or be challenged when you take into consideration the God factor?
What’s something in your hands that you can start with?
What step do you need to take to see God multiply things in your life?
Jesus, please help us lean on you when things seem impossible. Amen.
