Imagine God saying these words to you, “Thank you for serving me! Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Even during tough times you keep persevering. When evil shows itself, you prove it to be false because you know the truth. You never give up, and you keep moving forward for My Name sake. Way to go! However, I have this against you...” This happened to the church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7). God told them they were knocking it out of the park with their good work, but they had left their first love. Being merciful, God tells them what to do to fix this issue: “Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first.” (Revelation 2:5). Remember. Repent. Redo.
- Do I remember what my life was like before I became a Christian? How has my life changed since then?
- What do I need to repent from? (Repentance is the key to personal revival.)
- What do I need to start doing again? (Ex. serve, witness, read my bible, pray, etc.)
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. (Psalm 139:23-24)
